You know the saying, "When one goes they all go?" I feel there should be some kind of saying like that for paper cuts. Today handing out papers I got a nice paper cut on the top of my middle finger, on the first digit. NICE! So every time I bend my finger it reopens and stings. Then as I was putting one of my resource binders back on the shelf it fell, and how this happened I don't know, but I got another paper cut. This time in a fantastic place. It is at the bed of my finger nail on the thumb. So even as I am typing this it hurts like the dickens when I press the space bar. YES I am trying to use the other thumb! Don't worry not done yet. So the finger that I cut and burned last week making my cake that ended up being destroyed, well guess what? I got a paper cut between the cut and burn. NICE.
I think I am going to start carrying neosporin, band aids and Tylenol with me. Seems my hands are just accidents waiting to happen this week.
Off to go lick my wounds...
Having fun sewing, crafting, and scrapbooking. Follow me as I grow as a quilter and share in our daily lives.

Oh the Horror!
So I worked so hard on Evelyn's cake. Brad drew out the design for me and I fulled my bags and started piping it out. It took me about 2 evenings total to do both the big cake and the smash cake. I put them safely in the fridge on Friday and headed to bed. We woke up Saturday and begin to get the house all ready. My mother opened the fridge and asked, "What is wrong with the cake?" I ran over there to take a looked.
I was speechless! I couldn't scream, speak or even breath. It was ruined! A bag of breast milk had a whole in it and was placed on the shelf above the cake. It had slowly dripped all night and the cake was soaked through. The cardboard sheet the cake sat on was soaked. So I had my screaming fit and took the cake out. I cut off a piece and thought maybe it is only surface damage. I could have handled that, but nope the cake was soaked in the bottom layer. ARG!!! I cried, oh man I cried. I couldn't stop. My whole family just kind of stood there and watched me not knowing what to do. Brad slowly got a trash bag and helped me throw my hard work away.
I couldn't stop crying. I had to go get he balloons and decorate. Mom came to the rescue. She took me to SAMs to get a new cake. Once I got there there wasn't anything I wanted for Evie's cake. I just picked one they had and when I asked the bakery lady to write on it I started to cry again. So I told her the story and showed her a picture. They came to my rescue and made a new cake for us.
Evelyn's party was great. So many family members and close friends came to help us celebrate. I am pretty much over the whole cake thing, well maybe not totally. ;o)

Cake, cake...CAKE
I am gearing up for Evelyn's party this weekend. We have a house full coming. So to save money and to use my fabulous decorating skills I am making both girls cakes this year. I am a pretty good baker if I don't say so myself, just hard at times with working all day, keeping the house clean and getting dinner ready. But tonight I prevailed! I am a true Betty Crocker homemaker! ;o) I have had plenty of time to brush up on my skills and tonight I started the process. I got my cakes baked and frosted, "dirty iced," as the Cake Boss puts it. They are in the fridge cooling and tomorrow I will begin the decorating. I will make my butter cream from scratch an spend more time than necessary getting just the right shade of pink. here are a few pictures of my hard work.
A very busy counter. Separating egg whites, mixing and yes I bought my cake filling and frosting. What do you want from me? ;o) |
Bottom layer of the BIG cake all done and ready for filling. |
Round two baking in the oven. Don't look too hard, someone needs to clean that oven. |
Chocolate caramel filling. YUMMY! |
Evelyn's cake all filled and stacked. Ready to be frosted. |
All done! I hope she enjoys getting her hands in this. |
Big cake all done! Ready for butter cream decorating. That will have to wait till tomorrow. |

Planning, planning and more planning. Here is my to do list for this week. ARG!

2. Grocery store (YIKES no milk!)
3. Bake a cake and decorate
4. Party bags for the kiddies coming
5. Ballet
6. Violin Lessons
7. Party goods are needed
8. Party food, this is a Sam's trip
9. Girl scout meeting
10. Parents are coming, so sheets on the bed
11. Clean floors again, I am sure Evelyn will spit up on them before Saturday.
12. Sell Girl Scout cookies. Speaking of that who needs some?
13. Work! Lesson plans, make copies and keep my classroom clean. (clean???)
14. Get people to RSVP so I know how much food to buy.
15. Pray for good weather for the boucny on Saturday.
I think that is it for this week. Thankfully I do have a working list and there are many things already crossed off and some half done. YAY for being prepared!!
Evelyn is so big! She is crawling all over the place and pulling up to standing and making that transition very well. She is also starting to walk along the coffee table. I think we are close to full out walking. She has been practicing for her birthday party this week. I needed to practice my cake decorating so I made cupcakes. She is getting good at the getting messy part. So note to self take off her cute birthday outfit BEFORE cake time. ;o)
Grace is loving her new short haircut and I am loving it when getting her ready in the morning. Her favorite part she says it that everyone can see her earrings.
Sewing News
I finally have my fabric all picked out and will be ordering it this weekend. Grace is very excited about what we are getting. She helped. It has a very Fancy Nancy/rock princess color scheme. Don't worry I will be posting pictures about it.
Well that is about it for me this week. Hopefully we can maintain some order to our madness this week.

Nice weekend
I had a super Saturday. I got to my most favorite thing, next to being with my husband and girls, SCRAPBOOK. I am a Creative Memories consultant and we had an all day event today. I accomplished so much. I was able to get Evelyn's album done through May 2010. I am behind, well for me I am. Normally I am only a couple of months behind I was close to a year behind till today. Now I can rest a tad easier and being selecting photos to print. I would like to get caught up to about November of 2010. We shall see!

Gearing up for Birthday Parties
Every year for the girls Birthday party I always make a photo card as the Thank you card. That way not only do I take care of the Thank you notes, but everyone gets nice pictures of the girls as well. Here is the one for Evelyn's upcoming birthday.

Today.....Today....Today
What can I say about today? Nothing much really, just a long day. Lots on my mind. Kids come to school tomorrow, we have SO much to do and so little time to do it in. I always think to Willie Wonka on that line. Good times. Our busy routine started back tonight. Bells, Dance, Orchestra, Violins lessons and then rinse and repeat. It is hectic, but it is our life and we love it. So happy early Wednesday!

Clearly People are just RUDE and rule breakers
Heads up, I am so ticked off right now I have had to wait a whole hour to post this.
I am SO tired of the following things
I am SO tired of the following things
- People NOT stopping at stop signs. Do they realize that they are there to protect them? Do they not realize that you can get a ticket for that? Or how about they could hit another car and kill someone? I mean where are you going in such a hurry that you can't take the time to stop and be safe? Is being in a hurry more important than your life?
- People Running Red lights AND or gunning it at a yellow light. Being someone that has been in a horrible wreck due to someone running a red light this really frost my cookies. Once again that light is there for safety reasons. When the cops and the wrecker came for my car neither one could believed I walked away from that wreck unhurt. I know we are all in a hurry, so leave earlier people and be safer!! I get so mad a people running red lights I want to scream at them.
- Excessive speeding. REALLY??? Um maybe you could leave earlier or get up earlier and then maybe you wouldn't have to speed so much. Excessive speeding causes a lot of accidents. Do you know what happens to your body when you are hit by someone going well over 80mph? I am sure it isn't pretty. I know what happened when my Honda was hit by someone going just 40. I shiver to think of what would happen if that girl had been going double that.
- Small cars cutting me off in my BIG car. Ok my expedition weighs a lot and when you get that thing going 65mph it doesn't stop on dime. It takes my vehicle longer to slow down than your nice little 2 seater beamer. So don't give me the finger when you cut me off and it takes me a little more time to stop. You were the one that didn't change lanes with the correct amount of space.
- Texting, reading, applying makeup, on a computer while driving? Yes on a computer I have seen it. Put the gadgets down!!! How can you type a message, read a document for work AND drive? Just put the items down. Yes I am guilty of talking on my phone, but reading. Really? Reading? Once again what is more important getting your groove on for the night or your LIFE?
- Checking out in the express lane and you have more than the 10 items listed on the sign. This also really frost my cookies. Can people just not read? For the love of God either get less items or go to the correct check out lane. Cause I am following the rules and I was to ram my cart into yours or say something to when you are in front of me. One of these days I am sure I will be at my limit and I will.

Busy weekend and the end of the Christmas Break
What is is really Saturday? Wait Saturday is over for me. I have so enjoyed getting to spend time with my girls, Brad and family members. I am not really ready to get back to our hectic over busy life. Or the mornings that are so tough to get Grace moving and the girls and I out the door, but come they must. We will just keep praying that we get through them and those days do not out weigh the wonderful moments we do have.
Monday I am ready!
